Time to take a close look at your life and hopefully discover what is not working. Your problem is not the residents of Danvers. To them you might consider making a public apology using this same forum. If you don't however they will understand. -

Several years ago the USPS conducted a comprehensive survey which the public participated in, including me. I saw the results - stopping Saturday delivery among other cost-cutting measures was recommended by many...who knows how much this survey cost-nothing changed!

ReplyIt is unfortunate that a lot of letter carries would be affected, however the survival for the Postal Service is at stake. I would not miss Saturday delivery.

Anyone who has been victimized by a drunk on the highway, in their home or anywhere else would not likely object to a similar raise in alcohol tax since both cost society far more than any tax could cover...not a good arguement!

The cost of health care and decreased productivity in the workplace out-ways the decrease in state revenue.

ReplyIt is past time for cigarette smokers to at least make a dent in what their addiction costs society. They place an unfair burden on the health care system, their employers, co-workers and those of us who are exposed to second-hand smoke (hazardous to OUR health!) not to mention littered streets, beaches etc. Raising the tax might be a wake-up call for some but at least more revenue will be raised to deal with the cost we all pay.

Well said. I believe your statement reflects the attitude of the majority of people in this country. Hopefully the last sentence will be true also.

NEWSFLASH: America is the "land of opportunity" because the working stiffs get up every morning, go to work, support their families without a government handout, educate their children (no, public school education is not a gift from the government), borrow money to send them to college, plan for their retirement so they won't have to be a burden on "society"...all the while paying ther share of taxes which pays for the roads, schools, teachers. We have a "functional government" (some would argue that fact) because the tax-paying, self-supporting citizens make it happen. Most of us receive no gifts from "government", we are paying our own way each and every day.

Doesn't tthe approval of slots in Danvers depend on a citizen vote? If so, time to enlighten people about the consequences for the community before it is too late. The proponents are already doing their work.
