ReplyI've never been way without my kids. My daughter and I have been away without my son and Husband. My husband has been away for overnights with my Son. My daughter has been on vacation twice without us, but if you count Nature's classroom that would make 3 times. I was married when I was in my early 30s so I did a ton of traveling before I was married and had children. We traveled alot with the kids, Storyland, Chicago, Maine, Hershey, Newport, Disney World, Bermuda Cruise, Vegas and this summer we are taking a 10 day California Trip. My husband HATES to fly so getting him on a plane is work. I'm lucky my kids love to travel and are great travlers. When we went to Vegas this past Christmas we had a 6 hour delay at the airport and the kids didn't complain one bit. They made beds on the floor and slept until we boarded the plan were they went right back to sleep. They found the delay an adventure. They liked flying the red eye home (we are flying a red eye back from CA). My son like the mask Jetblue gives you to sleep. I guess I never found the need to go away without my children. There will be time when they are grown and we can travle without them, but right know I want to show my kids as much as the country/world as we can.

On the article The Parents YAP About Fabulous Fathers: Do your kids have a Super Dad?

ReplyThanks Tasha, but my kids are the ones that are lucky to have the father they have.
Unlike Melissa I never had a list of what father skills my future mate had to have, because I wasn't planning on having any kids. It wasn't until I started dating my husband and saw how he was with my nieces and nephews that I thought he would be a good father and LUCKY I was right. So for me I was total luck and not careful selection. -

ReplyBoth my husband and I work and volunteer a ton. Dad's are great at volunteering to be the coach or do boy scouts, but you don't see a ton of Dad's volunteering at the schools. There are those few, but mostly are Mom's. My husband loves that he is able to be at the school to "hang" with his kids. Now that we have 1 in middle school the volunteering isn't much for her, but if a chaperoned opportunity arises he is the first to volunteer. My husband does lunch duty, morning drop off, Co -Chairs Field Day (if you look at the chairs for the Greenwood School almost all of them are held by Moms), Field Trip Chaperone, when by daughter was in 3rd grade he went to clean the crayfish tanks once a week, coaches soccer and baseball. Helps me with taxing the 2 kids around.to either school, playdates or there extra activities. Does all the boy scout stuff with our son. My kids are lucky to have such an involved Dad and he loves it. Everyone has there own idea of a great Dad. Cleaning the house, cooking, shopping are more my ideas of a good husband. Being involved with the kids lives outside the home is my idea of a Great Dad. My Husband is not a super Dad, he is just a Dad that loves being involved with his kids lives.

ReplyI love home parties. Both of my kids are in May and 4 yrs apart. They first had a kids party when they turned five. My daughter has had a princess party, Teddy Bear Picnic, Jump on In , Spa ,Sleepover . When she turned 10 was her last birthday and 7 is their big party. My son had Scooby Boo, Sonic, Video Game Truck and this year he wanteds an Arctic Birthday. The Video Game Truck was awesome for a boys birthday. We have 1 family party for both. This May a bit crazy with my son's Communion as well. I love making up games that fit the theme, as well as the cake/cupcake. We use brown lunch bags as the good bags and my Mom draws pictures on the bags to go with the theme. I have so much fun planning their birthdays.

ReplyPeople are to sensative and to PC these days. I didn't give one thought on the word "Yap". I always thought dogs Yipped and not Yapped.
I'm with you Darlene if you don't likt it don't read it. So lets move on.
My kids love stories about my family, my husbands family & about them. They much perfer the funny stories. When we go out to dinner to pass time while we what for our food we even play our form of "Jepordy" . We ask the kids questions about our lives. They love the questions about how me and my husband meet, dating, wedding, homemoon and of course about them. I'm not sure if family stories make us any stronger, but we find them fun and entertaining. -

Voting for Gomez. We need to change something. Apparently career politicians are not working at the Federal or State Level.
