I would vote for Omelette Headquarters and North Street Diner which did not make the list and should have, in my estimation. I can only speak for the ones I have been to and would definitely go back to again, but my "other eight," not in any particular order, are: Brothers Deli and Restaurant, Zuzu's Cafe`, Sushi Island, Dockside, Harrington's, Kipos Roast Beef, Greenwood Pizza and, for ice cream (it IS a meal!) - Cravings!

Excellent comments, Darienne and Ellen. Anyone who thinks the meat they are ingesting is being appropriately labeled and truthfully divulged as to actual content is sadly naive and MIS-informed. We live in a frantically corporate greed-consumed nation with very little honest intent or integrity at heart.. There are those who are trying to get our attention like a "voice crying in the wilderness," but they are treated as "fringe" people, not quite with all their "faculties," even by those who do have a conscience against the despicable treatment of meat-for-slaughter animals to provide a food source. Why? We don't like our convenient, pocketed world to be torn asunder and have to face the truth. Yet animals and other living things are tortured every day - for our benefit. Just look the other way and you can pretend it isn't happening. For a tasteful, poignant, compassionate and honest portrayal of what is really going on in our food industry, please see: www.tribeofheart.org/toh2/about.htm to begin your own journey toward the truth.

With no car and a disability that prevents me from standing too long or walking very far, I use Peapod (home delivery from Stop and shop) . I've done the comparison research by taking my Peapod order to Market Basket on a printed-out list. On that particular list I would save $20 by going to MB. I revised my thinking and returned with my next list and found it would cost just about the same. Therefore, I am just more careful now with what I order. The two big advantages are no "bakery smells" to deal with and putting the item into the cart doesn't mean you are going to buy it. I go back and revise my order over and over until I have more of what I need and less of what I want. I can revise my order until just hours before they deliver it. It is all done from the comforts of my computer chair. I can use coupons and get special discounts that lower the total cost. However, best of all, I know my total cost before I go to the "check-out." It may not be the cheapest, but it does have good perks, without even putting on a jacket!

I first met Eileen when I applied to become a resident at Hart's Hill Apartments in Wakefield, MA nearly six years ago. Over the years we have formed a friendly business relationship, with more emphasis on friendly than on business.
Although she was efficient in and dedicated to her work, she also had a fun side to her personality and her humor was enjoyed by all. That sunny smile and vivacious spirit shone brightest at the August BBQs when she scurried around making sure everything and everyone was being taken care of, making sure it was a wonderful day for the tenants.
She was so young and full of life, it is impossible to bring reality to this immense loss. She will be missed beyond measure and loved forever.
My heart goes out to her husband, children, other family members, and many friends, neighbors, co-workers and housing residents who loved her, too, and always will.

Hi, Liz: I thought you might like a copy of the story I submitted to WCVB/Channel 5 (with updated style and grammatical editing). The story was used and referred to in the making of Dick Albert’s Weather Special on the Blizzard of '78 for their 25-year Anniversary program. It is too long to put in the comments, but I will send it to you via email and perhaps you might want to post it as a News article today.

The towns covered, according to the nomination brochure, are: *Amesbury, Andover, Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Essex, Georgetown, Gloucester, Groveland,
Hamilton, Haverhill, Ipswich, Lawrence, Lynn, Lynnfield, Manchester, Marblehead, Merrimac, Methuen, Middleton, Nahant, Newbury, Newburyport, N. Andover, Peabody, Rockport, Rowley, Salem, Salisbury, Saugus, Swampscott,
    Topsfield, Wenham, W. Newbury.
Your question, Robert (Do you know a hero living here in Wakefield or on the North Shore?), does not made clear to the reader that the hero nominated must either live or have performed the acts of heroism in only these towns that comprise the American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts area. There are many Wakefield residents I could nominate, but they live and work right here.

Way to go, Bob Rapucci! I am so proud of him and others in Wakefield who step up to fill in the gaps and give so much of themselves for the benefit of others. Bob, a grateful resident thanks you for all you do

Lynne MacAuley commented on Fire Rekindled at Destroyed Lake Street Home, which you are following.

"The owner of the home is a single father of two boys who r in college. They lost everything."

I tried to respond to this comment I received in my email updates but the site states that it does not exist and as you can see, it doesn't. Is there a glitch in the system that did not post this Comment?

I am still trying to find out if we can do something and what we can do to make the Holidays brighter for these people who were affected by this fire. Thanks.
