ReplyI don't live in Wenham, and I have no opinon on this proposal, but justifying it by a comparison with the school budget is ridiculous. I am tired of the incessant school bashing in these communities.

ReplyAny possible savings from the program will be more than offset by the selectmen's recent vote to maintain a stand alone emergency center. By their own reckoning this will result in additional annual spending of approximately $180,000. This does not include the foregone savings which would have inured from joining the regional ECO.

While the issue of personal freedom is paramount, these bans are nothing more than feel good PR measures. Department of Energy statistics above show that ALL production of plastics uses less than 5% of petroleum resources annually. Of this plastic bottles and bags are a pittance.

ReplyCan we please remember that there are still almost 900 people in Hamilton & Wenham who do not have power. A little more important methinks than Fauntleoy & Griselda having to wait a couple of days to get their candy.

ReplyI find it ironic that the supposed libertarian candidate is trying to make use of bureaucratic rules enacted by the government. The station should be free to invite who they want.

Afraid I have to disagree. Varitek was the captain with the big red C on his uniform last year when the beer & chicken follies were going on. He apparently did nothing to rein those boneheads in.

ReplyI am in favor of spraying. Hamilton rejoined the Northeast Mosquito Control District after a thorough presntation at town meeting. There were then extensive public hearings by both the Board of Health and Selectmen to set the limited parameters in which spraying would take place. The scientific data is clear that there are no effects on humans or animals other than mosquitios.

In Hamilton and Wenham we have three post offices within a mile of each other. That's two too many.
