Selectmen, School Committee Seats at Stake Tuesday

Separate ballots and check-in/out tables for town election and Senate primaries. Voters can participate in either or both.

Wakefield voters will choose candidates for town offices and for the U.S. Senate race in two separate elections Tuesday. Town Clerk Mary Galvin explained in an announcement last week that residents can vote in either or both elections on Tuesday – and that polling places will have two check-in and check-out voting lists, separate tables, and separate ballots.  PDF copies of the town ballot and the Senate Republican and Democratic primary ballots can be viewed at this link. Candidates Invited to WCAT’s Election Night Live Cablecast

Tuesday is town election in Wakefield, as well as special primary election.

The following was provided by Wakefield Community Access Television: Once the polls have closed on Tuesday’s annual town election and the U.S. Senate primary election, WCAT will be cablecasting their live Election Night program from Studio A beginning at 8.30 pm. Wakefield Absentee Ballots Available

Wakefield's town election, as well as the special Senate primary election, are April 30th.

The following is an announcement from the office of Wakefield Town Clerk Mary Galvin: Wakefield Annual Town Election  Absentee ballots are now available in the Town Clerk’s Office  for any registered voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on Tuesday, April 30, 2013  due to: State Primary Absentee Ballots are also available for Unenrolled, Democratic or Republican voters only due to State Primary rules. The deadline to receive an application to vote absentee, which is a prerequisite,  is 12:00 noon on Monday, April 29, 2013. Private voting booths are available adjacent to the office. Wakefield Candidates Debate Monday Night

Candidates forum is on Monday, April 1 at WCAT studio A.

The following was provided by Wakefield Community Access Television: The line up for two live cablecast debates on Monday, April 1st in WCAT’s Studio A, are now set. Candidates for the three seats in contention on the School Committee will debate questions posed by two press representatives from 7 pm – 8 pm. After a half-hour break, five of the six candidates for three seats on the Board of Selectmen will face the same press panel from 8.30 pm – 9.30 pm. Senate Candidate Makes Stop in Wakefield

Republican Senate candidate Dan Winslow joined former State Rep. Brian Cresta at campaign event for 2012 graduate turned school committee candidate Evan Kenney.

Last weekend, Senate candidate Dan Winslow and former State Rep. (and Wakefield selectman) Brian Cresta stopped by a campaign event hosted by Wakefield School Committee candidate Evan Kenney - who, as noted in this previous article on Wakefield Patch, was still a student at Wakefield High School at this time last year. Town Election Date is Now April 30th

Election will coincide with the state primary election set for that day.

The town’s election date has been moved to April 30, 2013 to coincide with the state’s primary election. Selectmen voted this week to move the town election from the 23rd. In an email announcement on Tuesday afternoon, Town Clerk Mary Galvin reported that “This will involve two separate elections on April 30, 2013 along with two separate check in tables, two separate check out tables and two voting lists.” The deadline to register to vote for the 2013 town election is 8 p.m. on April 10th. Voters and candidates can contact the town clerk’s office with questions at 781-246-6383.

2012 WHS Grad Now Running for School Committee

Evan Kenney, Wakefield Class of 2012, credits "phenomenal" mentors and video program at the high school.

Less than one year after his graduation from Wakefield High School, a lifelong town resident has announced that he's running for school committee. 19-year-old Evan Kenney is a member of the Wakefield High School Class of 2012, and he is currently a freshman at Fitchburg State University and majors in film and video production there. He credits his time in the WHSTV program with getting him a summer job last year in a video control room at Harvard Medical School, and for fueling his passion and love for video as a career path in general. Kenney said he had the benefit of "so many fantastic educators" at Wakefield High School, citing his former principal, Dr. Kimberley Smith, for encouraging him to express himself while also helping him …

Of course, it's a question of degree: students need to know how to use computers as they currently are. Debates For Wakefield Local Election Candidates Announced

Debates between selectman, school committee candidates to be held April 1 at WCAT studio.

Wakefield Cable Access TV has announced two upcoming debates for the town’s election, both of which will be held on Monday, April 1st. According to an announcement from WCAT, the first debate runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and will include candidates for the three school committee seats in contention.
