McDonald, 84, a well-known Wakefield funeral director for more than 60 years, died at his home Friday, April 26, after a lengthy illness. A Wakefield native who spent his entire life in the town, Mr. McDonald was known for his compassion, caring and competence in assisting families during their time of grief. He founded McDonald Funeral Home at 19 Yale Avenue in 1952 at the age of 21, becoming the youngest licensed funeral home owner in Massachusetts. The following obituary appears on the McDonald Funeral home website in Wakefield: Christopher J. Barrett, 81, of Wakefield died on Tuesday, April 16 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. Born in Melrose on February 24, 1932 he was the son of the late Christopher and Vera (Wilson) Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1949 and had attended Boston College. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Navy. He started Christopher J. David Elmer Russell was born December 9, 1916 to Theresa Burns Russell and Elmer Augustus Russell in Milford, New Hampshire. When he was five years old his family moved to Wakefield from Malden. Sophie T. Crocker, 93, a life long Wakefield resident died on Saturday, August 18 at her residence. Born in Wakefield on January 17, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Philomenia (Krezwicka) Yazinka. Mrs. Crocker was a graduate of Wakefield high School, Class of 1938. She had worked as a clerk for the I.R.S. in Andover. Mrs. Crocker was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield. She enjoyed camping in Brighton, Maine and traveling to Foxwoods. Hugh C. Metzler of Wakefield died suddenly on Tuesday August 14 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was 57. Hugh graduated from Melrose High School in 1974. His love of theater started very young and took him on the road first to summer stock where he gave flowers to Marlena Dietrich on the Paper Mill Theater stage in CT. Then there was dinner theater in Tampa, and even bareback riding as an Indian in Chillicothe OH for the pageant play at Tecumseh. He returned to Melrose Players and later the Quannapowitt Players (QP), branching out to many other local theaters over the years. Michael K. Stewart, age 50 of Wakefield died suddenly August 13. Born in Boston, MA on March 24, 1962 the son of the late Donald J. & Agnes (O'Sullivan) Stewart. Mr. Stewart raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School in 1980 and later from Fitchburgh State College in 1984.
