This Saturday is a very busy day for the Wakefield hockey community. The day starts off with the Wakefield boys varsity hockey team playing Watertown at 2:10PM at Kasabuski Arena. The WHS girls varsity team then takes on Watertown / Melrose at 4:30PM at the Kasabuski Arena. The Friends of WHS Boys Varsity Hockey is hosting an WHS boys hockey alumni game at 5PM at the Stoneham Arena from 5-7 PM. All former WHS players are encouraged to participate. The cost to play in the game is $45.00 for alumni over 21 years of age and $30.00 for alumni under 21 years of age. Players over 21 years of age price includes admission to the Holiday Social. The day will be capped off by a Holiday Social held at the West Side Social Club from 7PM till midnight …
The Warriors battled, but in the end, the No. 1 seed Burlington High School was just too much, taking a 4-2 win and the Division I North championship on Monday night at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.
LOWELL— Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Burlington High boys hockey team is headed for a Garden party. The Red Devils downed the defending North champion Wakefield Warriors, 4-2, last night at Tsongas Center in the Division I North title game. The Red Devils will now take on South champs Milton at TD Garden on Sunday. The starting time is still TBA. Burlington struck first with 4:18 left in the opener, when Joe Scali beat the Warriors Joe Cerulo to open the scoring. Dan Metzdorf and Joe Moran picked up the assists. The Red Devils (16-1-6) jumped all over their rivals and co-champs from the Middlesex League Small School Division in the second stanza, scoring three goals to put this one away.
