Customers who visited the Main Office of The Savings Bank in Wakefield on a recent Saturday morning were able to purchase Girl Scout cookies thanks to the efforts of Woodville School Junior Girl Scout Troop 71457. The Bank hosted several local Girl Scout troops during the annual cookie drive.

Membership open to girls aged 5 through 17, registration starts 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Wakefield Girl Scouts will hold their annual registration for new members on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. A brief presentation about Girl Scouts will begin at 7:00 pm with registration to follow. Girl Scout membership is open to all girls, ages 5 through 17 or girls in kindergarten through high school. The annual registration fee if only $12 per girl or adult. New troops will be forming soon. Get in on the fun! Jenn Sullivan's Girl Scout service project focuses on ensuring that house numbers are clearly displayed in case of an emergency.
When a police, fire or medical emergency comes up, losing even a few seconds can easily lead to catastrophe. And even something as seemingly minor as an unclearly marked house can cost first responders time. With this in mind, Wakefield Girl Scout Jenn Sullivan is working toward her Gold Award with a service project aiming to address this safety concern. The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can reach. For her project, Sullivan assembled a team of about 20 volunteers earlier this summer who then drove through the West Side and Greenwood sections of Wakefield in search of houses that were missing address numbers or had them otherwise not clearly visible.
