Art Exhibit Highlights Wakefield Talent

Juried art exhibit this week was part of the ongoing celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Americal Civic Center building.

A number of Wakefield artists were featured in a juried art show at the Americal Civic Center. The show, part of an ongoing celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Civic Center building, came together in the space of only about three months, organizer Cheryl Webb Scott told Wakefield Patch on Thursday. Scott recalled how earlier this spring, a lecture at the civic center highlighted prominent past local artists such as Franklin Poole, a 19th Century Wakefield painter. From there, the idea for a show featuring the town's current artistic talent emerged. Wakefield Actress Cast In Boston Production

Nina Barresi, 17, to play "The Cat" in "Honk!" at Boston Center for the Arts.

Nina Barresi, 17, of Wakefield has been cast in an upcoming Boston musical, “Honk!” which runs February 9th to 24th at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts. Barresi plays “The Cat,” described in a recent media announcement as “the sly, cunning villain.” Barresi has appeared in numerous productions at the Cambridge School of Weston including A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Tempest, Dido and Aeneas and Chess.  She was most recently seen in BCT’s production of Miss Saigon, and has appeared in A Chorus Line, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Annie and Side by Side by Sondheim at Long Lake Camp for the Arts.
