Look for Wakefield Branch of Stoneham Boys & Girls Club in 2012

Volunteers are pulling together to start the process of bringing a branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham to Wakefield.

If all goes according to plan, Wakefield will get a branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham here in town sometime in the next year.  Volunteers in Wakefield shared at a recent meeting in Stoneham that they began the process by speaking to members of the Wakefield community and the leadership of the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham about the need for a Wakefield Club. "We started with the Police Department, and even before we tried to make our case, they looked at us and said, 'Wakefield needs something where kids can just go to be kids,' said Anthony Guardia, a member of the Wakefield Committee for the Boys and Girls Club. Sara, What does this town currently offer to the children of this community? Nothing!All of our boardering towns/cities offer a YMCA and/or a youth center, we don not. Event Spotlight: Holiday Bazaar at Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham

The event is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at 15 Dale Court.

[Editor's note: The information below derives from a Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham press statement.] The Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham, 15 Dale Court, is holding a Holiday Bazaar Friday from 2-8 p.m. The bazaar will feature special events, promotions, and fun for the whole family, including hand-made gifts, a bake table, a duck pond, adult/kids punch boards, raffles, a snack bar, a kid's corner, a prize wheel.
