Native Wakefield Skydiver's Team Becomes World Champs

Wakefield native Matt Davidson and his team, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, take world title in 8-way formation skydiving at competition in Dubai.

Wakefield native Matt Davidson and his team, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, are the new World Champions of 8-Way Formation Skydiving after beating out 15 other teams from around the globe at the World Parachuting Championships held last week in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Knights earned their slots on the U.S. Parachute Team, the country’s most elite aerial athletes, at last year’s U.S. Parachute Association National Skydiving Championships. They joined a delegation of more than 60 U.S. skydivers in multiple disciplines to represent the United States at the biggest and most prestigious skydiving competition in the world. Wakefielder Competing With U.S. Parachute Team

Wakefield native Matt Davidson to compete with U.S. Parachute Team in Dubai later this year.

The following was provided by the U.S. Parachute Team: Wakefield native Matt Davidson has earned a coveted slot on the prestigious U.S. Parachute Team that will compete at the World Parachuting Championships later this year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Davidson is a member of the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, which earned a slot on the U.S. Team by winning the 8-way formation skydiving event at the 2011 U.S. Parachute Association National Skydiving Championships last November. The U.S. Parachute Team, the country’s most elite aerial athletes, will include a delegation of more than 60 skydivers.
