The following was provided by Wakefield Repertory Theatre: Wakefield Repertory Theatre’s production of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty’s “Lucky Stiff” opens next Friday, April 12. In this fast paced musical farce, English shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon finds out that Anthony Hendon, an uncle that he never met, has left him six million dollars. However, in order to receive the estate, Harry must take the corpse of his Uncle Anthony, who is sitting in a wheelchair and has been dressed to appear alive, on an all-expenses paid "vacation" to Monte Carlo, and fulfill the tasks specified by his uncle's will. The following was provided by Wakefield Repertory Theatre: When Englishman Harry Witherspoon finds out he has inherited six million dollars from a casino manager uncle he’s never met, he is thrilled… but the money comes with a catch. Witherspoon must bring the embalmed body of his dead uncle on a whirlwind trip to Monte Carlo for one last fling. A representative from the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn follows him, because if he doesn’t fulfill the will’s conditions exactly, they are next in line for the money. Both are pursued by the uncle’s girlfriend (who embezzled the six million from her husband) and her brother (who she’s set up to take the fall when her husband finds out the money is gone.) The following was provided by Wakefield Repertory Theatre: Wakefield Repertory Theatre presents “Nunsense”, the musical comedy by Dan Goggins, on January 25 and 26 at 8:00pm and January 27 at 3:00pm. “Nunsense” is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five of the nineteen surviving Little Sisters of Hoboken (the rest were struck down by botulism after eating tainted vichyssoise and are now being stored in the convent's deep freeze.) The nuns decide to stage a fundraising variety show to pay for the burials of their deceased sisters. The following was provided by Wakefield Repertory Theatre: Wakefield Repertory Theatre presented its annual awards at the group’s Annual Meeting. The Ron Chibaro Award is given annually to a person who WRT feels has displayed his/her own form of outstanding artistic excellence in the organization. This year’s award was presented to the 2012 Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre staff: Adam Schuler, Katrina Faulstich, Kerry Ann Donovan, Sarah DiTonno, MacKenzie Maloney, Lizz Stepchin, Laura Caton and Brad Robinson. The WRYT staff is solely responsible for the day to day operations of the group’s summer camp for 5th through 9th graders. "Lucky Stiff" is a zany, offbeat, and very funny murder mystery farce complete with slamming doors, mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair. This weekend is closing weekend for Wakefield Repertory Theatre’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie”, one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. Performances are this Friday and Saturday 29 at 8:00pm and Sunday at 3:00pm. The show will be presented at Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church, 273 Vernon Street, Wakefield and features local teens and adults. In the show, Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type, will bid a typical American teen-age girl goodbye before he joins the Army, with an all-American kiss. The Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre put on a show of "My Son Pinocchio" last Saturday.
Young Wakefield thespians and other local kids took the stage at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School on Thursday through Saturday last week in Wakefield Youth Repertory Theatre's production of Disney’s My Son Pinocchio.
