On Tuesday, Transportation Secretary Richard Davey was in town to talk about some of the infrastructure proposals in Governor Deval Patrick's budget. A number of business owners and local lawmakers were also on hand to speak and to learn more about some of the state's possible transportation initatives. The Wakefield Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a multi-chamber Small Business Forum with Sen. Katherine Clark, Reps. Donald Wong and Paul Brodeur at the Clarion Inn (formerly Lord Wakefield) 595 North Ave. Wakefield (near exit 39 off 128/95) from 7:30am-9:30am. The Forum will be a continental breakfast with networking at 7:30am and speakers begin at 8am, with guest speaker Massachusetts Department of Transportation Secretary Richard Davey at 8:15. On Thursday, the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce and a number of downtown merchants are holding a Ladies' Shopping Day, featuring various specials and more. Next Thursday, Dec. 13, they follow it up with a Men's Shopping Day, which will have its own map and offers for the guys. The following is a note from the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce: Once again, the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring Spooktacular Wakefield Trick-or-Treating. Over 40 downtown merchants on Main Street and Albion will be handing out candy on Thursday, Oct 25th from 4pm-7pm.
