PHOTO: Supporting the Citizens Scholarship

Longtime local organization has distributed thousands in scholarship funds to Wakefield students.

Several employees and friends of The Savings Bank came out to support the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield during the recent Jazz Brunch at Bear Hill Golf Club. Among those who enjoyed the brunch and the music provided by the Jack Band were (seated, left to right) staff members Paula Pustorino, Angela Staffiere, Dorothy Canney, and (standing, left to right) Danielle Laurina, Kelly Rivers, Greenwood Office Manager Geri Rowe, Elena Lopes and guest Jennifer Rowe.

PHOTO: Celebrating The Green

Celebrate the Green festival drew local residents and businesses to Greenwood Plaza last weekend.

The Savings Bank was among the local businesses that participated in ‘Celebrate the Green’ festival held at the Greenwood Plaza on Saturday. Kelly Rivers and Greenwood Office Manager Geri Rowe helped staff the Bank’s table during the event that was sponsored by Wakefield’s Event Planning Committee. Hundreds of local residents stopped by the event which will continue with shopping specials at local stores and businesses throughout the week.

PHOTO: Brewers Crowned Twi-League Baseball Champs

Team sponsored by The Savings Bank won 2012 Twi-League Baseball championship.

The Brewers, sponsored by The Savings Bank, were crowned champions of the 2012 Twi-League Baseball League after defeating Highlife in the finals. Brewers Matt Fiore, left, and Mike Greer, right, recently showcased the Chuck Oates Memorial Trophy to Raichelle Kallery, center, Senior Vice President – Marketing at The Savings Bank. In addition to playing on the team in the adult summer league, Matt and Mike also served as student officers of the 1st Educational Savings Branch of The Savings Bank during their senior year at Wakefield High School.

The Polymnia Choral Society helped launch the 2013 Holiday Music Series at The Savings Bank this month as featured performers at the Bank’s Main Office. The popular music series continues throughout the holidays on select Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Bank customers and friends are encouraged to stop by the Main Office to enjoy the delightful sounds of the season.

Local students teamed up with staff at The Savings Bank for annual Mystic Valley Elder Services cookie drive.

Student officers of the 1st Educational Savings Branch of The Savings Bank at Wakefield High School joined fellow students, staff members at The Savings Bank and WHS faculty and staff in baking and collecting cookies for the 9th annual Mystic Valley Elder Services “cookie drive.” Thousands of cookies were distributed to local elders who received the MVES holiday gift baskets this year. Helping to sort out the cookies are 1st Educational Savings Branch Officers (front row, left to right) Danielle Laurina, Gabriella Moscato, and Lauren Sullivan, and (standing, second from left to right) 1st Educational Savings Branch liaison Ally Houghton, and student officers Alan Conlon and Brett Wilson.

Bear Cub Scout Pack 733 from the Barrows School in Reading recently toured the Main Office of The Savings Bank in Wakefield to learn about banking and how to save money in preparation for their Bear Badge. Main Office Assistant Manager Ally Houghton, (second row, left), conducted the tour for the scouts and their leaders.

James Taylor, Vice President – Retail Securities, TSB Securities Group of The Savings Bank, met with student officers of the 1st Educational Savings Branch at Wakefield High School to teach them about the stock market as they prepare for the upcoming year. Taylor is one of the mentors from the Bank who meet with the student banking officers during the year to teach them about the various segments of the financial services industry.
