Local Youth Orchestra Members Playing in Free Concert

Four Wakefield residents are musicians in the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras.

Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) will present a free community concert on Sunday, March 10th at 3 p.m., at  the Free Church in Andover. The concert will feature members of NMYO’s fourteen chamber ensembles performing music by composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, and Stamitz. NMYO Symphony Orchestra musicians, and select members of Intermezzo Orchestra, participate in an eight-week chamber music program in which they are placed into small ensembles and coached by visiting professional musicians. NMYO chamber musicians perform in outreach concerts throughout the region in April as part of NMYO’s community service program, Youth Serving Through Music. Young Wakefield Musician Earns Music Fellowship

Congratulations to Benjamin Wright of Wakefield on receiving the Trudy Larson Instrument Fellowship.

The following is an announcement from Northeast Mass. Youth Orchestras: The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) announced Benjamin Wright from Wakefield as the first recipient of the Trudy Larson Instrument Fellowship during the Afternoon of Concerts on December 9, 2012 at the Ipswich Performance Arts Center in Ipswich, MA. Benjamin is currently a freshman at Wakefield Memorial High School and cellist with the NMYO Symphony Orchestra. He has been in the NMYO ensembles for four years starting with the Intermezzo Orchestra, NMYO’s intermediate orchestra. “Ben’s musicality, enthusiasm, and experience in the NMYO ensembles made him a great choice for the first Trudy Larson Instrument Fellowship,” notes NMYO Music Director Gerald J…
