CDC Says the Season Is Here: Where to Get Flu Shots in Wakefield

Here's where to get an influenza vaccine, how to recognize symptoms and what to know about treatment if you get sick.

Flu season is coming early in parts of the United States: This time last year, flu cases were lower in Boston than they are now, according to data on Google's Flu Trends. (Wakefield-specific data is not available on Flu Trends.) Overall in Massachusetts, activity is considered high now, while it was considered low at this time in 2011, according to Flu Trends. Event Spotlight: Free Seasonal Flu Shots

Today from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Americal Civic Center.

From the organizer: The Wakefield and Melrose Health Departments will again be hosting several clinics to administer the seasonal flu vaccine. The flu vaccine is free for those 18+ with the following insurances: Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, Blue Cross, Unicare Health New England, Neighborhood Health Plan, MassHealth and Medicare Part B. Residents of both communities are welcome at any of the listed dates and locations.  Please be sure to bring your insurance card.
