Event Spotlight: MBCR, Brigham and Women's Hospital to Host Trainsylvania Train Blood Drive

There is a special Halloween-themed blood drive going on Monday from 10 a.m.-1:45 p.m. at 100 Legends Way, Boston.

For those of you looking to do a good deed this Halloween, North Station MBCR and Brigham and Women's Hospital are having a special Trainsylvania-themed blood drive Monday. This tounge-in-cheek-themed event will take place on Track 1 at North Station from 10 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Those that give blood will recieve a Halloween long-sleeve T-shirt to help fight off the sudden belch of cold New England weather we are getting. Event Spotlight: New England Tenors Concert, CD Release Party

At the Standing Room Only Concert Series, tonight at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church.

On Saturday, October 15, at 7 p.m. the New England Tenors will perform at the Standing Room Only concert series at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Wakefield, 326 Main St in Wakefield. From the organizer: New England Tenors is a 3-voice ensemble that harmonizes the appealing sounds of a classical tenor, an Irish tenor and an operatic tenor. Accompanied by piano, violin and percussion, John Middleton-Cox, Damien Corcoran and Ray Bauwens perform a wide range of styles, including songs of inspiration, love songs, a West Side Story set, songs from The Secret Garden, and operatic favorites, such as Time to Say Goodbye and O Sole Mio. Event Spotlight: Comedy Night Benefiting WWII Memorial Committee

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus.

From the organizer: The World War II Memorial Committee will host a Comedy Night featuring Wakefield's own Paul D'Angelo on Thursday evening, September 22nd at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, beginning at 6:30 pm. Two other comedians, Mitch Stinson and Bob Seibel, will also perform. Tickets for the Comedy Night are $20 per person and include pizza. In addition to the comedy show, the event will also feature a 50/50 raffle and a sports memorabilia auction. Event Spotlight: Concert to Benefit Wakefield Alliance Against Violence

Tonight at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Community Club.

From the organizer: The Senior Tones, a popular local Do-wop singing group, will perform at a dinner concert on Thursday, September 15, 2011 to benefit Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV). The event will take place at the Crystal Community Club and will be catered by the Chuck Wagon Diner. Bob Eldridge, one of WAAV's founding members and its current president, is a member of the Senior Tones. “We're just a bunch of guys who like to get together and sing, have a good time,” he says modestly.  However, the smooth harmonies and witty banter of their polished performances, as well as the snappy, coordinated outfits worn by the singers, hint at a group of men who work hard at their craft in order to show their audiences a good time. Event Spotlight: Walkers and Talkers Story Time at the Library

Today at 9:30 a.m. at the Beebe Library.

From the organizer: For children ages 12-35 months. Build your child's early literacy skills. Children will learn songs, play musical instruments, play movement games, learn nursery rhymes and finger plays, and listen to simple stories. Parents or caregivers must accompany children during the program. This year, the library offers its Fall Story Time session on a drop-in basis. No pre-registration is necessary. Just bring your child and library card to one of the age-appropriate Story Times offered each week. Arrive a little early so you can provide your name and library card number on your admission sheet. Event Spotlight: The Wakefield Summer Band Presents Friday at the Bandstand

Head over to the Wakefield Common bandstand tonight at 6:30 p.m. and be treated to the last free concert of the summer by the Wakefield summer band.

From the organizer: The Wakefield Summer Band, now in its 10th season of giving free summer concerts for the community, is open to anyone without audition, and presents 4 concerts each summer in a (usually) Friday night series at the bandstand. The membership of the band is multi-generational, with members ranging in age from high school to 70's, and is primarily aimed at high-schoolers or college students who want to keep playing over the summer and post-college musicians who otherwise wouldn't get to play in any kind of a group like this. Our repertoire ranges from Sousa marches to Broadway selections to patriotic music to arrangements of classical repertoire to novelty pieces. Meets regularly on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 a.m. and at 6:30 p.m.

From the organizer: FIT Bootcamp Here's your chance to get in on the fun and challenge yourself with cardio drills and weights full body one hour workout, taught by ACSM Certified Personal Trainer Catarina Cipriani.
