State Rep. Donald Wong, a Saugus Republican whose district includes part of Wakefield, has announced that he will serve on three committees in the coming legislative session. Wong will serve on the influential Ways and Means Committee, which oversees the state budget and other fiscal matters, for another term. He will also be a member of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, as well as the Joint Committee on Financial Services. “I am honored to be named to these committees and look forward to using my business acumen to not only help the three communities in my district, but all communities across the Commonwealth as a member of the important committees,” the second-term legislator said in a statement. Paul Brodeur and Donald Wong: In December, our communities were stunned when a Wakefield man was charged with 100 counts of child abuse and sexual assault involving very young children. This deeply disturbing case highlights the need to strengthen our laws and regulations to help prevent these horrific crimes in the future. Wong recently presented a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to Judy Luciano, Director of the Wakefield Council on Aging, in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the John J. McCarthy Sr. Senior Center. The center recently marked the anniversary at the facility which is located in the former Warren School.

State Representative Donald H. Wong will host a coffee hour and visit with local seniors this Friday, September 21at the John J. McCarthy Senior Center in Wakefield beginning at 10 a.m. This is an opportunity for local seniors to drop by to say hello and talk to Representative Wong about any concerns they may have. “I know that it may be difficult for my constituents to come to the monthly office hours in the district,” Representative Wong said. “That’s why I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday morning at the senior center.”

Rep. Paul Brodeur (D-Melrose) and Rep. Donald Wong (R-Saugus) would essentially switch who represents the 3rd precinct in Wakefield.
The state of Massachusetts released its preliminary state legislative redistricting plans on Oct. 18, and although some communities are affected greatly by the proposed changes, Wakefield would not be affected very much. State House of Representatives The proposed change in district lines would call for Rep. Paul Brodeur (D-Melrose) to drop represententing Wakefield's Precinct 3. Rep. Donald Wong (R-Saugus) would then pick up Precinct 3, essentially switching that one precinct between the two legislators. Currently, Rep. Brodeur represents Wakefield's precincts 3, 4, 5 and 6, in the 32nd Middlesex District, and Rep. Wong represents 1, 2 and 7 in the 9th Essex District. Under the propsoal, Rep.
