One of the alleged victims was eight days. John Burbine is alleged to have videotaped several of the assaults. Lawmakers Taking Preliminary Look At Sex Offender System

A Wakefield resident was able to evade detection as a sex offender because he was classified as Level 1. State lawmakers have taken notice.

The local area was shocked this week to learn that a Wakefield man was charged on dozens of child sex abuse charges. The case is already graphic and disturbing enough - but a number of parents, including this one that spoke to Wakefield Patch on Thursday, are alarmed that John Burbine, 49, was a Level 1 sex offender all along - even as he did work for his wife's day care business. Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone noted at a Thursday press conference that Burbine had a 1989 conviction for indecent assault and battery on his record. Two other complaints against Burbine in 2005 and 2009 were later deemed not prosecutable. Burbine faces a total of 95 criminal counts for child sex abuse that allegedly occurred between August 2010 and …

A Wakefield husband and wife are facing numerous charges in connection with an illegal day care service that subjected at least 13 children - one of them just days old - to horrific sexual abuse that was recorded on video. On Thursday, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone announced the indictments of Wakefield residents John Burnbine, 49, and his wife, Marian Burbine, 46. @Simon. You are on the right track, more resources need to be diverted to protecting children. The problem is law enforcement focused on ex sex offenders already consumes millions of dollars with no impact at all. There's no impact because of the low recidivism rates amongst the general population of offenders. The rate of child abuse has seen no effects of the Sex Offender Registry because 95% …   more ›

A Wakefield man is facing more than 100 child sex abuse charges in what the Middlesex County District Attorney's office is billing as the worst case of child abuse it has ever prosecuted. That is the only good news in this horrible unforsaken incident--i hope that those poor children will never have any memories or life long trauma of what this sick and twisted bastard did. N.H. Couple on Lam Possibly Seen Around North Shore

Police say a New Hampshire couple who are accused of brutally beating the woman's three-year-old son may be hiding out on the North Shore.

A New Hampshire couple accused of brutally beating a toddler may be hiding out somewhere on the North Shore. Police had received reports of possible sightings of Jessica Linscott, 23, and boyfriend Roland Dow, 27, of Plaistow, N.H. in Swampscott on Tuesday and then in Lynn on Wednesday and in Salem on Thursday, reports the Salem News. Danvers police reported there was another possible sighting on Friday. Linscott and Dow are facing multiple charges of first-degree assault, neglect and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly abusing Linscott's three-year-old son, James. The couple first went missing after charges were filed against them on Nov. 16. The couple dropped the toddler off at Exeter Hospital on Nov. 14 and police said …
