POLICE: Bank Robbery at Smith Street Bank of America

Wakefield Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Bank of America on Smith Street in Wakefield.

Wakefield Police are searching for a male suspect who robbed the Smith Street Bank of America around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Police said that at 9:39 a.m., a single male suspect entered bank, claimed to have a bomb and demanded money.  The suspect fled on foot toward Water St. with an undetermined amount of cash.  The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid 20s to early 30s,  5’8”, with a thin build and dark hair. He was wearing a dark baseball hat with an unknown logo, dark sunglasses, a surgical mask, a white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and green latex gloves.   Wakefield Police detectives and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force are investigating the robbery. Chief Smith: Whittier Rd. Stabbing Believed to Be Targeted Attack [VIDEO]

Police are investigating a home invasion and stabbing that occurred on Tuesday morning in Wakefield.

A Wakefield man was stabbed in an armed home invasion on Whittier Road in Wakefield on Tuesday morning, according to Wakefield police.  One 55-year-old male victim was stabbed twice in the abdomen during the assault, and also had "defensive" injuries to his hands, said police. The victim was transported to Lahey Clinic with non-life threatening injuries.  A call went out at 11 a.m. on Tuesday for an armed home invasion with a stabbing at 63 Whittier Rd. in Wakefield. Police said the victim had been standing in the doorway when he was attacked. Police said they are looking into whether or not money was stolen from the home. Police said the attack was not random. "We believe this house may have been targeted," said Chief Richard Smith. Arrest Made in Stabbing of Wakefield Man at Woburn Cinema

A Connecticut man was taken into custody on Wednesday.

A Connecticut man was taken into custody Wednesday, arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Wakefield man and a carjacking at the Showcase Cinemas in Woburn in September. Chantau Chau, 20, of New London, Conn. was arrested in New London on charges of armed carjacking, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and motor vehicle larceny. According to Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone, Chau will be arraigned tomorrow in Connecticut on a fugitive from justice charge.  According to authorities, the victim, Charles Northrup, 42, of Wakefield was sitting in his car outside the movie theater waiting for a friend on the night of Sept. 6. For the second consecutive day, a family of foxes was seen running around at the Main Street playground.

We can see the park from our house and my husband (not me unfortunately) has seen the family of foxes many mornings recently. Usually he sees them at the park about 6am. I work from home and have never seen them throughout the day at the park - even when it's rainy out and the park has no people. I'm sure the hoards of people scare them away!   more ›
