The following is a letter provided by Bill Chetwynd & Anthony Guardia: Some of our favorite meetings on the School Committee were when teachers and students from Switzerland would visit. We remember having a conversation with them about the American education system. That conversation stuck with us and has caused us to reflect on the deeper meaning of education. We believe that in the United States’ the purpose of education is not just about making a child a smarter person, but also making them a better person: a person that will make a positive difference in their community.
