Dear Editor, On behalf of Boston Children’s Hospital I would like to take this opportunity to thank the West Side Social Club in Wakefield for their generous and continued support of our blood drives. They have graciously donated the use of their hall and parking lot to Boston Children’s Hospital and has made it possible to hold our blood drives there every few months for the past 3 years. We have collected 2083 pints of blood for our pediatric patients in need at these drives. We would also like to thank the Wakefield Community and the surrounding towns for their continued support of our blood drives at the Wakefield Social Club. On Monday, February 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the American Red Cross is holding a community blood drive in Wakefield at 401 Edgewater Place. All eligible and new blood donors are encouraged to give blood. Blood donors are needed everyday to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need. All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free lunch pack at Cumberland Farms, which includes a freshly prepared sandwich, any size fountain soda or frozen beverage, and a 1.5 oz. bag of Cumberland Farms brand chips. There is a special Halloween-themed blood drive going on Monday from 10 a.m.-1:45 p.m. at 100 Legends Way, Boston.
For those of you looking to do a good deed this Halloween, North Station MBCR and Brigham and Women's Hospital are having a special Trainsylvania-themed blood drive Monday. This tounge-in-cheek-themed event will take place on Track 1 at North Station from 10 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Those that give blood will recieve a Halloween long-sleeve T-shirt to help fight off the sudden belch of cold New England weather we are getting.
