Wakefield Patch is looking for interested fans, coaches, assistant coaches, parents, alumni and other individuals in town who are interested in sharing the news of their favorite sports teams with the rest of the Wakefield community. Specifically, we're looking for individuals to blog about basketball, gymnastics, hockey, and wrestling during the winter season. August 24 tryouts start at 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., at Northeast Metro Tech.
The following was submitted by Bob Croce: The Boston Comets girls AAU basketball program will hold tryouts for its fall season on Saturday, Aug. 20th and Wednesday, Aug. 24th at Northeast Metro Tech Regional High School, 100 Hemlock Road, Wakefield. Girls from all North Shore towns are invited to participate. Girls entering the 5th, 6th, or 7th grades will tryout from 6-7:30 p.m.; while the 8th and 9th graders tryout from 7:30-9 p.m. There is a $25 tryout fee, which covers both sessions. All girls, including returning players, must attend at least one tryout to be eligible for a team. The Comets are one of eastern Massachusetts’ premier basketball player development organizations.
