Last week, various local authors visited students at Greenwood Elementary School as part of the school's 11th annual AuthorFest.
Last week, it was the 11th annual AuthorFest at the Greenwood Elementary School. Local authors stopped by the school throughout the week to talk to the students about their work. In these pictures, Scott Magoon, a Reading-based author and illustrator talks to the kids about his work on books that include "The Boy Who Cried Bigfoot," "The Luck of the Loch Ness Monster" and "Mystery Ride." The following was provided by Colleen Guida, chair of Greenwood School's AuthorFest: The Greenwood Elementary School is holding its 11th annual AuthorFest this week. The Greenwood staff and AuthorFest committee are very excited to be celebrating eleven years of bringing literacy to life in the the form of author visits and fun, creative activities. This weeklong event, sponsored by the Greenwood PTO, will bring in nationally recognized and published authors and illustrators to share their knowledge of composition, story development, editing and publication. In addition, teachers have shared the featured author’s books with their classes prior to AuthorFest. The goal of AuthorFest is to promote a commitment to literacy and composition …

In the culmination of this year's AuthorFest at the Greenwood Elementary School, students donned costumes of their favorite characters.
Caution: What you're about to see is really, really, cute. First and second grade students paraded in front of supportive classmates and parents during the Greenwood Elementary School's character parade on Friday, February 17. The parade is an annual tradition of the Greenwood School's AuthorFest, a celebration of books, reading, and learning at the elementary school.
