That's Sylvester, but not Stallone

Sylvester is all lover, not an ounce of fighter in him

Sylvester Is a Lover, Not a Fighter My name is Sylvester, but my last name is Reed, not Stallone.  While I think I have the charisma of a movie star, I would rather be the lead in a romantic comedy, not a bang ‘em up fighter flick like Rambo or Rocky.  I have the green eyes of a leading man, so while I admit I look tough, at heart I am a lover, not a fighter.  Actually, that is an understatement.  I am a four-year-old fuzzy cuddle guy who wants nothing more than to be with you. I honestly can’t tell you how I ended up on the streets of Wakefield, but I know I am so glad to be off of them and in a warm comfortable home with humans.  I love humans.  I love their company, their conversations, to which I am a huge contributor, and of …

My Name is Lincoln, But Call me Snuggles

Mr. Lincoln is Sweet and Snuggly

My Name is Lincoln, But You Can Call Me Mr. Snuggles So you know my name.  But do you know how smart I am?  I decided life on the street was not for me…too cold, too hungry, too lonely.  So I found my way to this house and hung around acting friendly until, unable to resist my charms, the resident PAWS volunteer saw me and took me inside.  It was February 12, Lincoln’s birthday, which I have now dubbed my “new-birth day.”  It’s also the day they started calling me Lincoln. Ah, I do like PAWS.  Life here is great and I have no desire to go outside ever again.  Why would I?  I have everything I need right here in my foster home. What do I have here that I like?  Well, first of all people.  I adore people. I purr as soon as anyone picks me up…

Lowell Wants to Warm Your Heart and Your Neck

Sweet, Sweet Lowell is Cuddly, Playful, and Loving

The Days are Warming Up, But Lowell Will Still Keep You Snuggly Warm Oooh, I like the looks of you.  I do, I do.  My name is Lowell and I am a young, sweet, and very unique looking cat who wants a new home and family.  And I think you might just be the one for me.  Well, to be honest, I have never met a person I did not like.  I am just a very, very, friendly guy. And, a really nice kitty, too. Maybe you are more picky than I am?  So, let me tell you about myself and then you can decide whether or not we are meant for each other.  (Of course, I am certain you will discover that we are a perfect match, but I am pretending to let you decide—wink, wink.) I am young and playful.  I love to play, especially when you dangle things for me to …

Bella D is the Purrfect Tabby

Bella D is Seeking a Warm Lap

Bella D is the Perfect Tabby Bella D is my name and affection is my game.  At three years old, I am just getting started. I am a girl who knows what she wants, and what I want is to sit on your lap while you pet me.  If you ignore me, I will let you know with my very loud meow.  I don’t talk a lot.  But when I do, I make myself understood. I may sound pushy, but I am actually a very mellow feline.  Nothing bothers me and I love everyone and everything.  Ok, I did not appreciate being in a cage during adoption hours, but then I did not mind the hyperactive dog that came over to see me.  I even thought he might be fun!  As for not liking the cage, well, you can fix that by coming to adopt me so I don’t have to go there again.  I think that …

Vanna is no Game Show Diva

Don't Buy a Vowel, Adopt Vanna

Vanna Says Come on Down and Adopt Me Hi, I am Vanna.  Like that other Vanna of game show fame, I am lithe and elegant.  Unlike her, I don’t have an endless variety of lovely gowns.  But, as you will discover, I’m no less stunning in my own original, satiny grey tortie ensemble.   Yes, I am a definite show stopper. Besides being beautiful, I am affectionate, calm and mellow.  You can pick me up and carry me around and I won’t complain.  I also love when you pet or brush me.  Or, I could find a great spot near you to sit in the sun and doze.  I am easy to please.  Beauty, talent, and poise, I have it all in the best combination.  Human Vanna White, eat your heart out.  Of course, these days, I don’t get much time on television.  Instead, I …

Will You Adopt Penguin?

Penguin is a fuzzy kitten, not a bird in a tuxedo.

Hello, my name is Penguin and I'm a lively, six-month-old kitten. My markings may remind my foster of a real penguin, but I much prefer a warm, snuggly place with you to an ice floe in Antarctica or a beach in the Galapagos. Actually, I was brought in from the cold outdoors when I was only 12 weeks old, so I do have outdoor experience and I can tell you now that I'm done with that. Life indoors on the warm and cozy side of the window pane is the life for me. Here on the inside, I find that toys are the most fun. I can’t resist anything on a string, any catnip mouse, and that red dot that always seems to get away. And, I am finding people more and more interesting. They all ooh and ahh over my adorable fluffiness (who knew I was so cute?). …

Take Home A Real Sweetheart in Beary

Beary is Sweet as Honey

Adopt Beary and Take Home a Real Sweetheart Everyone loves me.  I can tell that because they all say how cute and sweet I am. Some call me a doll, which frankly, is not so appropriate since I am a dog and a boy one at that.  But they are right about me being special.  Who wouldn’t love me?  I am small in stature (the size of a very large cat) and big in heart.  I just love meeting everyone because I adore people.  I am always ready to play, to follow you around, to be your friend and to do doggie things with you.  Did I say that I love people?  I do. You may be wondering how a nice dog, like me, ended up homeless.  My story is sad, so you better sit down and pull out a hankie.  I was (and still am) very much loved by two wonderful people…

Mr. O'Malley Wants to Be Your Valentine.

Will You be Mr. O'Malley's Valentine?

Mr. O’Malley Wants to Be Yours on Valentine’s Day and Forever Boy, am I ever lucky to be the featured cat this week because Valentine’s Day is coming up and I am going to be your sweetheart.  As those NECCO hearts say: “Sweet Talk” “Love You”  “Be Mine” “4-ever”. Aren’t I charming?  I am a handsome young boy with short, glossy black hair and a cute bobtail (which makes me and extra special kitty).  True to the bobtail breed, I am playful and very people-oriented.  I am not above demanding your attention with a meow or a tug at your toes. My name is Mr. O’Malley.  But, please don’t confuse me with the O’Malley the Alley Cat of Disney’s Aristocats!   I don’t “got that wanderlust” nor do I want to “kick up the highway dust.” I’m looking for …

PAWS Pet of the Week

Lightning Needs a Loving Home

Will you adopt this sweet cat?

My name is Lightning and I am a stunning, young cat who is more than ready to get some me time. I don’t know why they call me Lightning, because if I am fast, it is only because I have been dashing after kittens. Babies, babies, babies, oh my. Mine were lovely, but I am so done with being a mother. Now I want someone to mother me. What do I mean by mothering me? Well, I love to be patted. I love to be scratched behind my ears and stroked from my neck all the way down to my tail. I am so sleek and smooth your hand will glide right over me like, well, like lightning. Maybe we can even make a few sparks on dry days.  When we meet, I hope you will take the time to get to know me because I can be shy at first. But once I have scoped you out, I …

Winter is a Warm and Loving Adolescent

Will you adopt this friendly cat?

My name is Winter, but I am not the least bit like that season. I am all spring, sweet and happy and loving, the kind of kitty who will sit on your lap and purr and purr. The kind of girl who likes to be scratched, rubbed, and petted in all those good cat spots (ears, chin, neck, etc.). In this very cold end of January, I am a tiger who will bring a lot of warmth into your home.  Did I say tiger? Not a real one silly! I am actually a torbie because of my range of colors (orange, brown, grey, cream) mixed with tiger stripes. Did I mention I am young? Maybe 8 months old. Some would say that is an awkward age, stuck between childhood and adulthood. But I would say it is the perfect age. I have all the energy and fun of a kitten, but I am …
