Freedom 5K and Pet Adoptions On Weekend Calendar

Coming up this Saturday, September 14, the Freedom 5K run/walk helps raise awareness for victims of domestic sex trafficking, which affected as many as 3,000 teenagers in this region alone last year. The race starts at 10 a.m. and registration begins at 8 a.m. Click here for more.

Pet Adoptions: Local pet adoption group PAWS will be at the PetSmart on Route 114 in Danvers on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a number of cats in need of a good new home.

There’s a household hazardous materials collection day on Saturday, September 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Wakefield High School. Reading and Wakefield residents only – bring driver’s license. No commercial waste. Call the Wakefield DPW at 781-246-6301 for more information.

Coming up on Monday, September 16 at 7 p.m., local author Anthony Sammarco will speak at the Beebe Library in downtown Wakefield about his new book, “A History of Howard Johnson’s.”

The Wakefield Choral Society is holding an open rehearsal Monday, September 16 at the Wakefield High School music room from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Open rehearsal is also reportedly scheduled for Monday, September 23.
