The following was provided by the Standing Room Only Concert Series:
Among his colleagues accordionist Cory Pesaturo is the king of “Firsts” and “Youngests”: the youngest ever to perform at a White House State Dinner (age 12); the youngest accordionist to solo with a symphony orchestra (age 13); the youngest National Champion (age 15); the only accordion major to graduate from New England Conservatory; and the first and only triple world accordion champion: jazz, acoustic and digital.
Fresh from an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman, Cory Pesaturo brings his Zulu Time trio to open the fifth SRO season, Back by Popular Demand” on Saturday, October 19 at 7:30pm. Rounding out the trio are violinist Gabriel Solomon and double bassist Richey Talley. As a dynamic acoustic trio, they have cemented a magnetic onstage chemistry that is both serious and slightly irreverent. The band has an omnivorous musical appetite, with repertoire spanning genres from jazz, musette, tango, klezmer, folk music of Bulgaria and Macedonia, classical, and original compositions.
Zulu Time has performed with acclaimed drummer Bob Guillotti at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland, RI, at the Longy School of Music, and at The Lily Pad in Cambridge, MA. Its members have performed in Canada, the United States, the U.K., Finland, France, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Tunisia, South Africa, India, New Zealand, and Japan.
Music lovers can get a preview of this “global village music sequel” when Zulu Time makes a cameo appearance at the Arts on Albion festival earlier on the Saturday, October 19 at 4pm.
Other concerts in this season of “encore performances by our favorite artists” include the annual Candlelight Christmas, this year with Holly Zagaria collaborating with the New England Tenors; another Great American Songbook celebration with New England Light Opera on Valentine’s Day; and a return of the very popular New England Brass in April for the season finale.
Tickets to Zulu Time are available online at www.sroconcerts.org. A limited number of subscription seats are also available online or by calling 339-203-9366. Single tickets are also available at Parker Florist, 9 Lincoln Street, Wakefield, on a concert-by-concert basis.
