Kids Halloween Concert, Breast Cancer Fundraiser Among This Week's Events

A look at what's coming up in and around Wakefield.

Today is Monday, October 28. Here are five things worth knowing today. 

Tomorrow at 1 p.m., Hugh Hanley gives a children’s Halloween concert at the Beebe Library in the lecture hall, featuring his “Circle of Songs.” Halloween Costumes encouraged.

Tania Salon and Spa has announced a breast cancer fundraising event on Tuesday, October 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Special guests are Breast Health Educator Linda Leis to discuss self-exams, nutrition and more, while Barbara Mirlocca of Florence’s Fashions will talk about bra fitting for breast cancer survivors as well as wig options.  Pink hair extensions and ribbon accent nails, raffles and refreshments are also planned.  To make a donation, visit www.fundraiseforBCRF.org/taniasalonsspa. Town Business: The Wakefield selectmen meet tonight at the WCAT studio at 7:30 p.m.

William C. Sano, an area musical educator, conductor and pianist and organist, will return to the Meeting House for a new lecture series entitled “Sisters Who Sing.” Sano’s latest lineup will run Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon with The Andrews Sisters on October 31, The McGuire Sisters on November 7, the Lennon Sisters on Nov. 14 and The Supremes on Nov. 21.
