A great day to come to the market! Surprise visitor: West River Creamery, our 2011 and 2012 cheese vendor. And lots going on!

BIG NEWS! Jane, of West River Creamery, our cheese vendor in 2011 and 2012, will be with us this week! We will also have a first-time visit from Sandra of Vermont Gourmet Candy Dish, which makes small hand-batches of savory sauces, jams, and chocolate and caramel sauces.  This may be the only visit by each this season, so don’t miss your chance to say a hello! For a brisk start to your day, show up at right at 9:00 a.m. and join Joy of Melrose Boot Camp for a free 45 minute fitness boot camp experience. This workout is for men and women of varying fitness levels. Lots of fun, too!

The Friends of Beebe Library will be make their annual appearance at our market with lots of books to give away – yes, for free – and raffle tickets on sale for a beautiful quilt. Come pick up some great books and meet other booklovers as you browse the stacks.

Local singer-songwriter and market favorite Kevin G. Moore will be with us these week from 10:00 – noon. Be sure to make some time to hang out and listen and check out his CDs.

The Wakefield Rotary Club will be our nonprofit guest this Saturday. Committed to serving both local and global communities through hands-on and financial support, the 48 members of our town’s Rotary club have a truly exponential reach. Since 2012, they have supported 27 local groups and 6 international groups. Stop by to learn more and say a big thank you for all their good works.

NEWSFLASH:
  If you missed Stir It Up Cuisine last night on Lifetime's Supermarket Superstar, be sure to watch the rerun via http://www.mylifetime.com. And, guess what!  They were the winners of the episode! Congratulations!

The market accepts credit and debit cards as well as SNAP/EBT cards in exchange for “Market Bucks,” and, thanks to another generous grant from Melrose Wakefield Mass in Motion, the market will match SNAP/EBT purchases up to $10 per visit so all our neighbors can afford to eat healthy local foods!

I am sure we will have our balloon twisting artist Yarrow or his friend Mike with us, and sidewalk chalk and hula hoops will be on hand for kids of all ages. 
NOTE: If you do not see chalk anywhere, let folks at the Manager tent know. I forgot to put it out last week!

And now, for the farmer and food vendors!

If you plan to do some canning, pick up some money-saving coupons for Ball ™ and Kerr ™ products at the Market Manager tent. And, talk to our farmers if you want to purchase produce in bulk for any type of preserving.

SALE! In particular, while they last, Charlton Orchards will have ½ bushel orchard run fall peaches $25.00 per basket this Saturday along with other fruits, assorted produce, honey, wine, and pasture-raised beef and eggs.

Farmer Dave will, of course, have all kinds of produce from their farm just up the road in Dracut, and Kelly’s Farm will have a variety of produce as well, along their beautiful cut flowers. As far as I know, corn is still coming in at all three farms produce farms. And, Flats Mentor Farm will have their tasty Asian greens, veggies, and herbs on hand, as well.

John Crow Farm will have a variety of pasture-raised cuts and types of meats and poultry, and Copicut Farms will have freshly slaughtered sture-raised chicken, whole and parts, and both will have fresh eggs.

Tower Root Beer will be joining us this week, as well.  Be sure to try their new Cream Soda and Gingerale!

Stir It Up Cuisine will be making their biweekly visit with their tasty hot pepper jellies and tortes.  NEWS FLASH: Stir It Up Cuisine was the winner of the 5th Episode of Supermarket Superstar on the Lifetime channel!

All our weekly vendors will have their usual excellent fare: Samira’s Homemade’s wonderful Middle Eastern foods and really great whole wheat pita bread,Fior D’Italia, with gourmet pastas and entrees, as well as fresh mozzarella products, DD’s Dressing, with their delicious lemon dressing that supports scholarships for local young people, Mamadou’s amazing artisan breads, Swiss Bakers and their delectable assortment of breads and pastries, and the Popover Lady with scones and pies, along with her super popovers.

Globe Fish will have wonderful fresh seafood, and for sweets, Ben’s Sugar Shack has all things maple and Goodies Homemade has the best cookies around.

Stop by Ben’s for some iced coffee, and try it with maple sugar. To die for. Hot coffee and tea are also available next to the Market Manager tent.

For our canine friends, Bark for More will be on hand with both frozen and baked doggie treats.
