Volunteers Needed for New Wakefield Club

We are in an exciting time in Wakefield, with a new Boys & Girls Club site opening this fall. Earlier this week, our organization officially signed a lease with the Americal Civic Center to occupy several rooms in the building. Also, we have hired a Unit Director, Gene Dion who comes with a wealth of prior Boys & Girls Club experience.

With all of the pieces falling into place, our next step is to reach out to the community to seek volunteers to assist with the Club's afterschool programming in Wakefield. This a great opportunity for those in the community to share their talents and make a meaningful impact on the local youth. We are looking for help in several areas including the Club's homework help program, arts & crafts program, games room, teen center, athletic program, hall monitors, front desk help. In addition, a very important volunteer position we are looking to fill is the community outreach coordinator. This person will work with the Club's teen program to develop community service projects. Also, if you have a skill outside of these areas that you think would be beneficial to the Club, we would be open to considering different volunteer opportunities.

The Club in Wakefield will be open Monday through Friday, from 2 to 6 P.M. We are looking for those who can make a regular commitment during these days and times. Typically, volunteers come in 1 to 2 hours a week; but we are flexible and able to work out the details with you as needed.

If you are interested in inquiring further about becoming a volunteer at the Wakefield Club , please contact Gene Dion by email at gdion@bgcstoneham.org or call him at (781) 438-6770.
