Wakefield High Band Places First in Championship Show

The band played a medley of songs by the rock group Aerosmith.

The Wakefield High School Marching Band came in first place in its division at the New England Scholastic Band Association championship in Lawrence on Sunday. 

The band placed first with its tribute to the rock band Aerosmith which earned a score of 95.60.

Malden High, which , came in second place with a score of 93.30. Malden High played a medley of songs from current artists, including Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Christine Perry and P!nk..

Wakefield High played portions of several Aerosmith songs including, "Same Old Song and Dance," "Walk this Way," "Sweet Emotion," and "Dream On," ending with the band leader breaking a plastic guitar.

The band director is Thomas Bankert.
