Trivia Team Challenge To Benefit Wakefield Scholarships

Citizens Scholarship Foundation's 21st Annual Trivia Team Challenge is Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Americal Civic Center.

The following is an announcement from the Citizen's Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield:

The Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield, Inc. is pleased to announce that its 21st Annual Trivia Team Challenge will be held this year on Saturday evening, February 23rd, starting at 7 pm , at the Americal Civic Center. Last year’s event was a tremendous success. With total of 54 teams competing for the coveted Championship Trophy, it was Wakefield’s own Lucy Skeldon and her team called Eponymous that came out on top. Organizers of this year’s event are hoping for a similar turnout to support their efforts to provide much needed scholarships for deserving Wakefield students.

The format for the evening’s fun will be the same as in past years. Teams of up to four players compete against each other in three 25-question rounds to determine the finalists which will compete in a fourth round to determine 6 trophy winners. A seventh trophy is also awarded to the highest scoring first year team that does not win one of the six placing trophies. Team members sit together as a group to arrive at consensus team answers to questions in such categories as sports, entertainment, history, music, television, geography, literature and odds and ends. Each team captain is responsible for entering his group’s responses on an answer sheet which is corrected at the end of each round.

The entry fee for this year’s event is a tax-deductible donation of $120 payable to CSF of Wakefield, Inc.  All entry fees, along with the proceeds from the cash bar and from the raffle, go directly to the general fund of the organization and are awarded as scholarships in June to Wakefield students.   CSF of Wakefield, Inc. , the largest and one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the country, has raised nearly $95,000 for local scholarships from the 20 prior Trivia Team Challenges.

CSF expects that this year’s event will be another sellout, so interested teams are encouraged to submit their entry forms early. To obtain more information about the event or to receive an application form, teams can contact Trivia Team Challenge event chairperson Noel Bailey at 207-361-3230 or Roberta DiNitto at the CSF Office at the Americal Civic Center at 781-245-4890. Entry forms can also be downloaded at the CSF website, www.csfofwakefield.org. CSF looks forward to seeing tons of local trivia fans and CSF supporters at their 21st Annual Trivia Team Challenge on Saturday evening February 23rd at the Americal. The Trivia Team Challenge is a unique mid-winter local tradition and one that is always full of challenging questions, great raffles and tons of laughs, all for a most worthy cause.
