Middle School PTO Magazine Fundraiser Begins This Week

Annual Galvin Middle School PTO Magazine Drive begins this Thursday, Sept. 27. Magazine subscriptions can be ordered online too.

The following is an announcement from the Galvin Middle School PTO:

The annual PTO Magazine Fundraiser will begin on Thursday, September 27th. All students will receive an informational packet and letter at an assembly that morning. Additional packets, letters and order forms may be found in the school office. The first turn-in day for magazine orders will be Tuesday, October 2nd, the second will be Thursday, October 4th, and the third and final turn-in day for magazine orders will be Tuesday, October 10th. Orders may be placed on-line, too. Go to www.gaschoolstore.com click on ‘shop now’ under the parents and students section and enter the school code 2516896. Enter your child’s name to ensure they get proper credit. You may find that your order is processed more quickly, too!

Please note: There is a REACH OUT BOOKLET included in the packet. Those students who bring in a completed booklet- with names and addresses of out of town family and friends- to lunch on Friday, September 28th, will receive a rockstar duck and a chance to win $50.00! One $50.00 prize will be awarded per grade. This is the only day students can receive a prize for turning in the completed booklets.

Students will receive prizes for the number of subscriptions they sell. Each magazine subscription sold is worth one prize point at the prize store. The Prize Store will be set up the day after turn-in days outside the cafeteria. Students can claim their prizes during the lunch period. The Prize Store will be open for a final day on Monday, October 15th in the event of a student’s absence following a turn-in day. Students bringing in 10 orders on October 2nd, or 15 orders by October 10th will earn a place in a minute-to-win-it contest, to take place in October during school at a date to be announced. Just like the game show, eligible students must complete a task in under a minute, those who do will move on to the next level. The amount of cash increases with each level and the overall winner will take home $100 cash! The top selling student in the school will win a 16 GB 4th generation iPod Touch! Please refer to your child’s handout for more information regarding the prizes.

This fundraiser is the PTO’s primary source of income for funding programs for the students, resources for the teachers, and end-of-the-year activities for all four grades, so please consider participating.

Library Magazine Donations

As you may know, the Galvin library no longer has a budget for magazines. In order for students to have current magazines in the library, our library paraprofessional, Ms. Gutowski-Connell, will gratefully accept donations of magazine subscriptions, which can be purchased through the current fundraiser and will count toward your child’s total number of orders. If you are interested in sponsoring a subscription for the library, please contact dmjoly1@gmail.com

Galvin PTO Fundraising Alternative

The magazine subscription fundraiser is the primary method used to raise funds for Galvin student programs. It is the most effective way to achieve our goal of delivering an enhanced scholastic experience through the social and educational programs it helps fund.

We realize that some families have participated in the fundraiser for many years and would like to continue to contribute to the student programs, but are not interested in the magazine subscriptions. An alternative to participating in the magazine fundraiser is to make a one-time donation to the Galvin PTO.

If you prefer this option, the PTO would be grateful for any donation you would care to make. Just send a check made payable to GALVIN PTO in the amount of your choice in an envelope marked ‘Fundraising Alternative’.

Thank you!
