Marie McNamee Selected as New Woodville Elementary School Principal

Marie McNamee, previously an assistant principal at two Westford elementary schools, has been chosen to be the new principal of the Woodville Elementary School.

Superintendent Joan Landers announced at Wednesday’s School Committee meeting that Marie McNamee will become the new principal of the Woodville Elementary School this fall.

McNamee has spent the last seven years serving as the assistant principal at both the Rita Edwards Miller School and the Norman E. Day School, both elementary schools in Westford. She has spent the last 11 years overall working in an administrative position, and prior to that she spent 13 years as an elementary school teacher in Lowell.

“She’s a seasoned educational leader who will bring a wealth of experience to the school district,” Landers said.

McNamee holds a Bachelor's of Science in early childhood education from Salem State University and a Master's of Education in school administration from Emmanuel College. Landers said that when she spoke to the principals at both of her schools, along with the Westford Superintendent, they all highlighted her educational knowledge and expertise as a major asset, and also said she’s a team player and very involved.

“It was a glowing recommendation from the people that she worked with,” Landers said. “During her recent role in Westford, she worked on the district's Strategic Plan, supervised and evaluated staff, coordinated and wrote curriculum, helped lead the district's literacy initiative, was in charge of the crisis management team and while she was dividing her time between two buildings, she always was the ultimate professional.”
