GMS Science Club Holding Trivia Night

Annual event is Oct. 19th at the Elks Club, raises funds for the science club at Galvin Middle School.

The Galvin Middle School Science Club will host the third annual trivia night on October 19th at the Elks Lodge on 63 Bay State Road in Lynnfield.  This will be an adult event organized to raise funds for the Science Club.  The cost is $20 per person and teams may be comprised of up to eight people at a table.

A cash prize will be awarded to the winning team.  Please feel free to bring your own snacks, and a cash bar will be available.  Join us for a fun night out with friends filled with laughs and interesting trivia to help support students at the middle school. Funds raised from this event will help defray the cost of building projects and lab materials.   Doors open at 7pm and Trivia begins at 8pm.

To reserve a table or for more information please call Mr. Gorski at (781)246-6410 ext. 6745 or Lorri Wheeler at 781-224-7650.  Hope to see you there!

The Galvin Middle School’s Science Olympiad Club is coached by teachers Christopher Gorski, Rebecca Murphree, and Jeffrey West. The Club is also assisted by numerous parent volunteers.  Each year students from the Galvin compete against schools from across Massachusetts in twenty-three events in life science, physical science, engineering and chemistry. The students design and build many items including bridges, rockets, towers and catapults, and they also compete by taking tests and designing and performing laboratory experiments.  The students work hard after school several times a week from October until March building and preparing for the competition.   Last year there were over forty students from grades 5 to 8 who competed on three separate teams at the state tournament at Assumption College in Worcester.

Last year, the Galvin Middle School’s Science Olympiad Team placed 2nd, its highest placement since the GMS students began competing in 2007. The competitive team placed in the top 6 in 17 out of the 23 events.

Not to be picky, but I don't think this is a picture of the Galvin School in Wakefield. Probably the Galvin Middle School in Canton, perhaps?

Thanks Marguerite, there's an excellent chance that that was the case, so just to be safe, I replaced the photo.
