Scott Brown (R), Elizabeth Warren (D): U.S. Senate

Scott Brown has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate since a January 2010 special election held to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy. Brown defeated state Attorney General Martha Coakley with 1,168,107 votes, or 51.9 percent, to her 1,058,682 votes, or 47.1 percent.

Rep. John Tierney (D), Richard Tisei (R): 6th Congressional District

John Tierney has been the Conressman representing Lynnfield for the past 16 years. He faces off against Richard Tisei, a former State Senate Republican leader and the owner of Northrup Realtors in Lynnfield. In 2010, Tierney defeated Republican challenger Bill Hudak, 57-43%.

Clark was elected to her first term as state senator in 2010, following a term in the state house of represenatives.

State Rep. Paul Brodeur

Brodeur was elected to his first term in the State House in 2010 and his background also includes service as a Melrose alderman and a corporator for Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Wakefield Updates From The Polls

10:15 p.m. - Wakefield residents went for Barack Obama by a narrow margin, but they also backed GOP congressional candidates Scott Brown and Richard Tisei by substantial margins. Brown spent part of his youth living in Wakefield while Tisei is a current resident of the town.

2 p.m. There are different things that motivate people to hold a sign for a particular candidate. Wakefield resident Andy Hocking told this website that he has been a Tisei supporter ever since the day about 18 years ago when the then-state senate candidate knocked on his door and asked for his support. Elena Vitale, also holding a Tisei sign, said that she is an independent who also knows and respects the candidate, who himself is a Wakefield resident. "I'm voting for the man. He really cares about his constituents. He's humble and I think he's common sense," said Walter Schofield, another Wakefielder out supporting Tisei this afternoon.

On the Democrat side, Madeline Brown and John Jensen of Wakefield talked a little about what brings them out for their own respective candidates. Jensen told Wakefield Patch that he was supporting Elizabeth Warren's Senate bid because he believes she will work on the problem of student loan debt for young people. "These colleges are getting so expensive for young kids," he said. "They're getting crushed." For her part, Brown praised Tierney's knowledge of the issues and his ability to deliver a clear message, adding that he got a "bad rap" for his wife and in-laws' legal issues.

1:45 p.m.  A visit to all four of the town's polling places earlier today finds that traffic was moderate but steady. Information on voter turnout, as well as the results, will be posted on this website as soon as it becomes available. A number of Wakefield residents were also out holding signs for their respective candidates, and those numbers were only likely to swell toward the end of the work day.

8:10 a.m. - Wakefield voters will have wound up with opportunities to see both 6th District House candidates in person in the final hours of the campaign. Congressman John Tierney was in town Monday and a photo of his stop at the Wakefield train station was just added to this website. Richard Tisei's campaign reports that the candidate will be stopping for lunch at noon at Brother's Deli. Tisei, a Wakefield resident, also reportedly cast his ballot in town around 7:30 a.m. at the Crystal Community Club polling station.
