Kenney, 19, Accepts Job With Amesbury Mayor

Wakefield School Committee member, 19, accepts local government job in Amesbury, will continue undergraduate studies part time.

Evan Kenney, who made statewide news last year with his election to the Wakefield School Committee at the age of 19, has announced he’s taking a new local government job in Amesbury.

In an announcement this weekend, Kenney reported that he has accepted an interim aide position in the office of Amesbury Mayor Ken Gray. As a result, he plans to continue working on his undergraduate degree part time instead of continuing with his status as a full-time student at Fitchburg State.

The 2012 Wakefield High School graduate turns 20 in February. He also spoke with this website back in 2012 after attending the Republican National Convention and his dust-up with the GOP over his support of Ron Paul over Mitt Romney that year

“It is a special opportunity that I cannot pass up,” wrote Kenney, going on to say that “As for Wakefield, I will not be going anywhere. I will be right here at home, and my work on the School Committee will not be interfered with.”
