Wakefield Woman Injured on Lake Winnipesaukee

Woman was injured by a propeller, according to New Hampshire State Police.

A Wakefield woman is being treated at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH, today after an injury on Lake Winnipesaukee. 

According to the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol division, a 911 call came in around 1:30 p.m. on July 11, about an injury on the Moultonborough side of the lake. 

Marine Patrol personnel, Moultonborough Police, and Moultonborough Fire and Rescue teams responded to the scene near Morrison Cove. 

Upon arrival, responders found that a woman, Sarah Sophia, 21 of Wakefield, had been injured with a laceration to her right leg. 

"The injury resulted when she was struck by the boat’s propeller after falling out of her tube while being towed by the vessel," according to the report.

Sophia was was transported to the hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  

The incident is under investigation, according to the report.
