Wakefield Woman Injured in Cape Cod Accident

Two other people also injured, all with non-life threatening injuries.

A Wakefield woman was injured Monday in an accident on Cape Cod.

At 2:45 p.m. Monday, Massachusetts State Police responded to a report of a wrong way driver and crash on Rte. 6 West in the area of Exit 8 in Yarmouth. Yarmouth Fire and Dennis Police were also on the scene.

Three people were injured and transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They included an 84-year-old Chatham man, a 54-year-old Harwich man and a 56-year-old woman from Wakefield.

The westbound lanes were closed for approximately one hour during the investigation. State Police say Initial reports that an operator had fled the scene were unfounded.  

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, police say.
