Wakefield Resident, PD, Recognized By AAA

Robert Rapucci and the Wakefield Police Department were recently presented with AAA's Gold Star for their work to support public safety.

The following was provided by the Wakefield Police Department:

The Wakefield Police Department was recently recognized by AAA for outstanding achievements in traffic safety and were presented with the Gold Star, which is the second highest award given by AAA. The Department was selected for their continued safety programs such as child safety seat installation, seatbelt enforcement, and efforts to combat impaired driving.

Also recognized by AAA was Wakefield resident Robert Rapucci, who was presented with the “Traffic Safety Hero” award for 2012. Mr Bob Repucci has been a friend of the Wakefield Police Department for many years. He has served as a grant writer and most recently as a volunteer who assist in our traffic safety grants.

Since the funding for his position has dried up, Bob continues, on his own time, to write, review and manage our traffic safety grants. Without him, there would be no funding available to the Wakefield Police for traffic (seat) belt enforcement, underage drinking enforcement, crosswalk initiatives etc. He is the reason we are successful in our traffic injury and fatality reduction program.
