Wakefield Police Officer's Work with Youths Earns Her Commendation

Wakefield Police Officer Kelley Tobyne was recently named 'Officer of the Quarter' for the second quarter of 2013.

Wakefield Police Officer Kelley Tobyne was recently named "Officer of the Quarter" by Police Chief Rick Smith for her extensive and innovative work with youths.

Tobyne joined Wakefield Police in September of 2009 after working for Danvers Police. Since, Tobyne has become involved with multiple special programs, including her appointment as the School Resource Officer, her work with emotional and mental disorders and the launch of her "Junior Officer" program.

Tobyne herself developed and carried out the Junior Officer program, which taught students at the Galvin Middle School about the physical and mental aspects of police work.

"Every parent/guardian thanked the Wakefield Police Departmentand raved about the program and how much it meant to their child," the July Wakefield Police report read.
