Stolen Copper, Discourteous Dog Walker Among Monday Reports

Wakefield Police responded to these and other calls for service on Monday, January 27, 2014.
At 7:41 a.m. a minor accident was reported on Main Street.
At 7:42 a.m. police responded to a disturbance at Galvin Middle School.
At 8:10 a.m. some copper pipe fittings were reported stolen on Lowell Street.
At 9:18 a.m. a caller reported a suspicious man with a gray van walking around in yards in the Hart Street area. Police found the van but not the individual and continued to monitor the area.
At 1:15 p.m. an individual on Elm Street called about a man who walks his dog on the street and never picks up after it.
At 2:17 p.m. police took a report of a past hit and run accident.
At 3:29 p.m. the fire department responded to Nazareth Academy for a report of smoke coming from a pipe in the building.
At 5:09 p.m. a found purse was returned to its owner.
At 5:10 p.m. police took a report of a past shoplifting case.
At 5:23 p.m. a caller on Wave Ave. reported a man with a black hooded sweatshirt was going door to door with a clip board and that she did not feel safe. It turned out to be a newspaper delivery person.
At 7:37 p.m. a disturbance was reported on Chestnut Street. Police issued a summons to a 49 year Billerica man charging him with assault and battery, and they issued a summons to a 24 year old Wakefield man charging him with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
At 7:53 p.m. an individual walked into the police station apparently thinking their car was stolen from the parking lot outside. Further investigation found the vehicle to be parked on Princess Street nearby.
At 9:13 p.m. a suspicious vehicle was reported behind Brother’s Deli on Main Street. It checked out OK.
