Police Seek Help Locating Missing Man With Diabetes, Mild Dementia

Wakefield resident Joseph Doucette, 69, last seen at doctor visit in Medford. Reportedly suffers from diabetes and mild dementia.

The following was provided by the Wakefield Police:

The Wakefield Police are looking for the public’s assistance in finding a missing 69 year old Wakefield resident.  Joseph Doucette is a resident of the Sunbridge Wakefield Care and Rehab Center on Bathol Street.  

On Wednesday August 7th, Doucette had a doctor’s appointment on Main Street in Medford. He told the receptionist that he was stepping outside for a cigarette and never returned to the office. When the ambulance arrived to take him back to Wakefield, they could not locate him and notified Sunbridge.

Medford Police was notified and were unsuccessful in their search of the area. Wakefield Police detectives have been checking area hospitals and homeless shelters and are continuing their investigation.

Doucette had gone missing before and was located in Haverhill. He often uses the MBTA busses for transportation.  He is known to frequent the Haverhill, Lawrence and Lowell areas, and has been homeless in the past.

Doucette is described as a 69 year old white male, 5’09, 155 lbs. He has brown eyes, is balding (grey hair) and has a moustache. He sometimes wears glasses.

He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Doucette is reported to suffer from mild dementia and is an insulin dependent diabetic.
