Police Log: Resident Reports $400 in Cash Stolen

Wakefield Police are investigating a larceny of $400 from a New Salem Street residence.

Wakefield Police Log for Tuesday, July 24, 2012: The following information was supplied by the Wakefield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Featured item: A resident of New Salem Street reported that someone had stolen $400 in cash out of his dresser drawer in his bedroom. Police found no sign of forced entry to the residence.

9:46 a.m. - A stray dog was found in the Dustin Road area of Reading.

11:33 a.m. - Police responded to a verbal argument between a property manager and tenant. 

1:06 p.m. - A minor car accident was reported in the 129 Rotary.

2:50 p.m. - Vandalism was reported to a port-a-potty on the lower common. 

3:57 p.m. - A caller reported that the rear window of his motor vehicle was shot out by a BB gun while it was parked on Ames Street. Wakefield Police are investigating. 

4:01 p.m. - A store owner reported that kids hanging out in front of her Main Street store were causing a disturbance. Police asked the youths to leave.

6:44 p.m. - A neighbor reported seeing a suspicious male trying to gain access to an Oak Street home. The male was described as having shoulder length black hair and a black backpack, and was trying to gain entry via a back gate. Police found an unsecured door in the rear of the property, but no one was found inside or in the area.
