Police Log: Alleged Hit and Run Driver Arrested

Police arrested a driver accused of leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident.

Featured item: Police arrested a Wakefield woman charged with damaging town property with her car, then leaving the scene.

Jessica Sullivan, 29, of 337 Water Street, was arrested on several charges including driving without a license, damanging property, and leaving the scene.

A witness reported seeing a gray 1999 Mercury Marquee drive up onto the curb and onto a grass area owned by the town on Melvin Street, tearing up the grass with the tires. Based on the description given of the car, police were able to locate the driver pulling the vehicle into a driveway on Melvin Street.

Sullivan was arrested and taken into custody. She will be charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and leaving the scene of property damage out of Malden District Court.

Other incidents:
11:28 a.m. - Wakefield Police noticed a car speeding on North Avenue. However, the driver did not respond to police attempts to stop the vehicle. When the vehicle finally stopped, the operator told police she was dealing with mental issues and needed to be transported to the hospital. She was taken to Melrose-Wakefield hospital.

2:19 p.m. - A woman from Malden was summonsed to court for allegedly driving without a license in Wakefield. Police said they observed a Jeep Cherokee traveling on Main Street without a front license plate. A registration check showed the vehicle also had an expired inspection sticker, and that the driver did not have a valid driver's license. The driver will be charged with having no inspection sticker, a license plate violation, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

2:39 p.m. - A man was reported going door-to-door offering window services on Harrison Avenue. Since he was without a solicitor's license, police told the man to leave the area.

3:14 p.m. - Police responded to a car accident involving a cyclist who was hit by a car on Main Street near the intersection with North Avenue and Nahant Street. No one was injuried.

7 p.m. - Wakefield Police arrested Paul Faucher, 42, of 410 Salem St. on an outstanding warrant for unarmed robbery out of Middlesex District Court. Faucher was arrested while at home.

7:16 p.m. - Police recovered a syringe on the ground near Traverse Street.

9:04 p.m. - A client of the group home on Layfayette Street was reported missing. The girl was descirbed as a 16-year-old Hispanic female, 5'5", 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
