Wakefield Man Killed in Vermont Car Crash

A Wakefield man was killed in a car crash in Vermont Saturday afternoon.

A 21-year-old Wakefield man was killed when his vehicle slid off of a snow-covered highway in Vermont Saturday afternoon, WCVB is reporting.

Police have reportedly identified the man killed in the accident as Benjamin Mohla, 21, of Wakefield. He was reportedly riding in the backseat of a pickup truck driven by Jonathan Taliadoros, 22, of Gloucester.

The accident occurred on I-89 in Randolph, Vt., according to the WCVB story.

Mohla was a 2010 graduate of Wakefield High School, with a younger sister who was also a recent graduate.

"Ben was an active member of the WHS Band, he was a Diversity Leader, and many may remember his vibrant performance in the 2010 Senior Show.  I presented Ben with the Principal's Spirit Award on Senior Awards Night, in recognition of a student who lit up our school with joy and enthusiasm. We are all proud that Ben was a senior this year at the University of Vermont," wrote Principal Kim Smith in an email to the WHS community, adding that counseling and support would be available for students and faculty Monday and Tuesday at the school guidance office.
