Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Wakefield

A 39-year-old man from Gloucester died after he was hit near the Route 129 ramp, police said.

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 95 Monday afternoon.

State Police said the crash happened near the Route 129 ramp at about 3 p.m.

The pedestrian, a 39-year-old man from Gloucester, was not identified. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Lahey Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said it was immediately unclear why the man was in the middle of the road.

The driver was identified as a 51-year-old man from Tewksbury. He was driving a GMC truck, police said. No charges have been filed.
