A Middleton woman was rushed to MassGeneral Hospital with head injuries Friday night after being struck by a motor vehicle on Andover Street.

At 6:39 p.m., Peabody police responded to the intersection of Andover Street and Andover Drive after receiving word that a woman had been struck by a Mitsubishi Lancer.

The driver, Nicholas Hernandez, 22, of 4B Andover Drive, Peabody, reportedly struck a 24-year-old woman as she was crossing the street.

The woman, who police declined to identify Friday night, was taken by ambulance to MassGeneral Hospital in Boston to be treated for head injuries sustained in the accident.

That section of 114 is an extremely dangerous section of road. From Buttonwood lane to Violet Road is single lanes only in both directions. Next time you drive that way check as the 2 lanes north bound end at the Left turn only lane at Buttonwood lane and South bound at Chandlers. The City has never painted double lanes on the section of road. Its just not wide enough for 4 lanes.
