Gas Leak Briefly Delays MBTA Commuter Rail

Several commuter trail trains delayed, building evacuated after gas leak near North Ave., Church St. intersection.

Commuter rail service was delayed and a nearby building evacuated by a gas leak at the corner of North Ave. and Church Street on Thursday morning.

A report by WHDH noted that gas could be seen spewing into the air, but that the leak, possibly caused by construction work, was soon capped.

An MBTA spokeswoman told Wakefield Patch that a total of three trains between North Station and Reading were affected for no longer than 15 minutes each.
