FBI Crime Data For Wakefield Comparable to Last Year

Annual data report from FBI looks at reports by crime category for towns across America.

A look at recent FBI crime data for Wakefield finds that in general, numbers for many crime categories have held steady over the past couple of years.

For example, the FBI’s 2012 Crime in the United States report found there were eight robberies reported in town last year compared to seven in 2011, with 67 overall violent crimes in 2012 and 61 in 2011. An increase in the number of assault cases was a factor there.

For property crimes, the numbers were even more comparable year over year. In 2012, Wakfield had 309 total property crimes reported, according to FBI data, with 304 in 2011. That included 70 burglaries in 2012 (68 in 2011) and 223 Larceny/Theft reports in 2012 compared to 220 in 2011. There were also 16 reports involving motor vehicle theft for both 2011 and 2012.
